  More about EEPCA

What are the aims of EEPCA?

The principle aims of EEPCA, as reflected in its Statutes, are:
  • to facilitate the certification activity of its members (…) by putting at their disposal common administrative and secretarial services.
  • to promote third party certification based on European standards and to secure the necessary feedback from certification to standardisation.
  • to secure openness and transparency in the European certification schemes which they operate, and maintain an ethical code in their certification activities.
  • to protect the interests of participating European certification schemes, keeping into account the interests of manufacturers, users and consumers.
  • to monitor the use on the market of the Schemes or Marks owned by its members.
  • to co-ordinate European certification schemes with international schemes for the benefit of European industry.
  • to generally carry out all objectives (…) of a nature to further the realisation of the aims of the association.
What are the activities of EEPCA?

In pursuing its aims, the Association engages in numerous activities:
  • EEPCA holds the permanent secretariat for all major European Certification Schemes for low voltage electrotechnical equipment.
  • EEPCA publishes for each Certification Scheme a body of Permanent and Operational Documents that govern the functioning of the Scheme.
  • EEPCA is an information centre for European and non-European manufacturers and consumers on subject of voluntary electrotechnical certification in Europe.
  • EEPCA is available to represent the interests of the profession of electrical product certification before national and European administrations and before international bodies operating in the same field.
  • EEPCA represents, where required to do so, the Mutual Recognition Agreements and their members in legal matters.
  • EEPCA monitors the Peer Assessment system of the members of the European Mutual Recognition Agreements, ensuring on a permanent basis the highest possible quality and reliability of third party product certification.
  The structure of EEPCA

EEPCA is a not-for-profit membership association governed by French law. Its supreme body is the General Assembly, where all member CBs are represented. Between General Assemblies, management is in the hands of a Board, elected for three years, on which all Chairmen of participating MRAs have a seat. The permanent Secretariat in Paris ensures the day-to-day running of the Association and of the Secretariats of the participating Certification Schemes.

Who are the members of EEPCA?

Membership of EEPCA is open to all European Certification Bodies who comply with the statutes of the Association. At present, out of 29 eligible CBs, 24 are members of EEPCA. Five European Certification Schemes (MRAs) have concluded an agreement with EEPCA.
